If you're not careful and you noclip out of reality in the wrong areas, you'll end up in the Backrooms — an endless maze of yellow office rooms, buzzing fluorescent lights, and the ever-present smell of wet carpet. There's no way out, no clear origin, and something else in there with you.

Originally posted as an image macro on 4chan in May 2019, the Backrooms exploded into a massive internet mythology. The concept — a liminal space accessed by 'noclipping' out of reality — spawned thousands of community-written levels, a found-footage film series by Kane Pixels, and a huge wiki. It's one of the most successful collaborative horror worldbuilding projects ever created.
